Terms of Service

1. What Arklist is

Arklist is a bulletin board. People post listings (things for sale or free, jobs, services, spaces, and things they are looking for) organized around church boards. Anyone can browse; you need a confirmed email address to post.

Arklist is not a party to any sale, hire, rental, or other arrangement between users. We do not handle payments, we do not inspect items, we do not vet people, and we do not guarantee that a listing is accurate or that a transaction will happen. You deal with other users at your own judgment and risk.

2. Churches and the verified check

Church boards are places to gather listings connected to a church community. A board's existence on Arklist does not mean the church endorses Arklist, any listing, or any user.

A green check next to a name means the account is affiliated with a church through a method we accept (such as an email address on the church's own domain, or an invitation from that church's account). It is not a background check, a character reference, or a statement about anyone's beliefs or membership. Verify people the way you normally would.

3. Your account

• You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
• Give us a real email address that you control, and keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
• One person, one account. Do not impersonate anyone or any organization, including a church you are not authorized to represent.
• Tell us at [email protected] if you think your account has been used without permission.

4. Posting rules

You are responsible for everything you post. Keep it honest and lawful. In particular, do not post:

• Anything illegal to sell, offer, or possess where you or the buyer are located, including weapons, drugs, counterfeit goods, and stolen property.
• Listings that are false, misleading, or fabricated, including fake reviews, fake sold items, or prices you do not intend to honor.
• Content that is hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or that discloses someone else's private information.
• Spam, chain schemes, multi-level marketing recruitment, or repeated duplicate listings.
• Photos or text you do not have the right to use.

5. Your content and photos

You keep ownership of the words and photos you post. By posting, you give Arklist a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, resize, display, and distribute that content for the purpose of running and promoting the service, for as long as it is on Arklist. You promise you have the rights needed to grant that license.

You can edit listings while they are active, then mark them sold or archive them. Sold and archived listings are frozen to preserve what was posted. Archived listings are hidden from the public. We may keep copies for a reasonable period for safety, legal, and backup reasons.

6. What we may do

• Remove or hide any listing, board, or account that we believe breaks these terms, harms other users, or exposes Arklist to legal risk, with or without notice.
• Set limits, such as the number of photos per listing, how often a listing can be renewed, or how long a listing stays live.
• Change, pause, or shut down features or the whole service. Arklist is a young, free service and we cannot promise it will always be available or error-free.

7. Free service, no warranties

Arklist is currently free to use. The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that listings are accurate, that users are who they say they are, or that the site will be uninterrupted or secure.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Arklist and the people who run it are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of money, goods, data, or goodwill, arising out of your use of the service or any transaction with another user. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to one hundred US dollars (US$100).

You agree to indemnify Arklist against claims arising from content you post or your dealings with other users.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to their jurisdiction. If a part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Arklist grows. When we make a meaningful change we will update the date at the top of this page and, where practical, let you know on the site or by email. Continuing to use Arklist after a change means you accept the new terms.
